Visualisation: Feel Motivation Whenever You Need It

How often have you had the idea for a project or new business, and felt the excitement rush through your body with adrenaline?
What goes through your head at that time? You think about what your life will look like if you can pull it off.
You envision specific details, because you're at that stage of your life mentally - even if its just for a few moments.
If you close your eyes you can be anywhere, doing anything.
You are the CEO of your agency. You are speaking at a keynote conference sharing your plan for the company's future. Your peers praise you afterwards. You go home to your wife who says she's proud of you. Money is no longer an issue.
Or you published that novel. It's now a best seller. You're doing book signings when suddenly your favourite author enters and say's she was captivated by your storytelling. You put a signed copy of her book in your designer handbag and take an Uber Executive to the mixer you were invited to.
Our imagination is one of the most powerful tools our brain is capable of.
Yet most of us don't use it.
We stumble through daily life as if everything is just outside our realm of possibility, without thinking about what the future could bring if we tweaked our everyday habits.
You might be thinking that idealising about a better life is just a sad way of feeling better about yourself. And you're right - but only if it's not paired with action.
The power of visualising something makes you want it so bad that you'll feel overwhelming guilt if you don't spend every bit of free time trying to achieve it.
This might sound extreme to some, but the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are usually the ones who do.
So here's what you do every night in bed before falling asleep, and every morning before getting up:
Visualise where you will be when you reach your next goal. In every tiny detail. Where you'll live, what car you'll be driving what your day to day routine will be etc.
Our most creative state of mind is right before and after sleep. This is when our meta-cognitive abilities reach it's peak - our thoughts about our thoughts.
Then when you get used to it, you can start seeping it in to your everyday life.
On your walk to the train station. On your walk to work.
Imagine it's that day but 1 year from now, or whenever your next goal is. Where will you be heading? What would you be wearing?
“Watch your thoughts, for they will become actions. Watch your actions, for they'll become... habits. Watch your habits for they will forge your character. Watch your character, for it will make your destiny.” - Margaret Thatcher
Don't forget the present moment
Even though visualisation is one of mind's most powerful tools, it should be used with care. How does the saying go? With great power comes great responsibility.
If you get dependent on a state where you are visualising your future self, you won't ever feel the appreciation for the present moment that is essential for inner peace.
Remember that visualisation is a technique, nothing more, and that all that matter is right here in the present moment.
The present moment is the only thing you will ever have, so make the most of it.
